Torin Ruleman 19 Was Charged With Several Felonies After 4
EAST LYME, CT A 19-year-old East Lyme man was charged with the battery of his four-week-old twins, who suffered numerous fractures, police said.
Last month, the East Lyme Police Department was contacted by a medical office in Old Saybrook,reporting about infants with physical injuries treated at the location, according to a police report.
Torin Ruleman, who was arrested Monday, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault with intentional physical injury, and two counts of risk of injury to a child. He was held on $200,000 bail.

East Lyme Man Accused Of Abusing Twin Infant Daughters
EAST LYME, CT A man from East Lyme is accused of abusing his infant twin daughters, according to police.
The four-week-old twins were then taken to Yale New Haven Hospitals emergency room, police said.
East Lyme police found one of the infants had 13 fractures while the other one had eight.
Torin Ruleman, 19, was taken into police custody on November 21, authorities said.
Police told Eyewitness News Ruleman is the infants father.
Ruleman was charged with two counts of cruelty to persons, two counts of risk of injury to a child, two counts of assault with intent of serious physical injury, and two counts of reckless endangerment first-degree.
He is held on a $200,000 bond and appeared in New London court on Tuesday.
According to court paperwork, one infant had 13 fractures on different parts of her body, including her ribs, arm, and leg. They were all in different stages of healing. The other infant had 8 fractures.
When doctors asked Ruleman how these fractures happened, he says he would toss the infants in the air and catch them.
The accused stated that he routinely did this to both victims, stating when they were approximately one week old, as a means to stop them from crying, court paperwork states.
Ruleman also allegedly told police he once fell asleep with one of the girls on him, and that she dropped onto the floor.
Ruleman allegedly told investigators he has anger issues, and that the incidents make him think hes not fit for parenthood.

EAST LYME, Conn. An East Lyme father charged with physically assaulting his 4-week-old twin daughters faced a judge Tuesday.
East Lyme police arrested Torin Ruleman, 19, on Monday about a month after he and his girlfriend brought their daughters to Gales Ferry Pediatrics in Old Saybrook on Oct. 13 for their 1-month check-ups. According to court documents obtained by News 8, the couple told staff they heard a clicking noise in the rib area of both victims.
The girls were taken to the emergency room at Yale New Haven Hospital after x-rays showed rib fractures. Authorities said the pediatrician contacted the East Lyme Police Department the same day to report suspected abuse.

The observations of the pediatrician, first and foremost, in this case, are really what led to where we are today, East Lyme police Chief Michael Finkelstein said.
Court documents revealed Ruleman told police he got the idea to toss his babies into the air by watching a YouTube Shorts video and thought it was adorable. He said he started routinely tossing both babies into the air when they were approximately 1 week old to get them to stop crying.
Ruleman told investigators that one baby rolled off the bed onto a roll of paper towels, but according to court documents, a Yale New Haven pediatrician said the twins suffered their injuries due to repeated acts of physical abuse.

During the investigation, the report reads, detectives determined that one infant “had 13 fractures on different parts of its body in various stages of healing, while the other had eight.” According to the report, the infant twins were taken to the Yale New Haven Hospital emergency department in New Haven.
