Christ The King In Old Lyme Celebrates July 4th With Rock N Roll Mass Today

Sunday Mass ~ Jan 8 2023

July 4, 2021 by Admin

OLD LYME Looking for a different way to commemorate July 4th this year how about a trip to church?

Christ the King Church in Old Lyme, a Roman Catholic faith community, is observing The Fourth of July 2021 with a Mass that celebrates the principles of religious freedom on which America was founded, honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the protection of that freedom, and praises God.

Every once in a while, July 4 falls on a Sunday, as it does this year the last time was in 2010. Christ the King Church has had a tradition of observing Independence Day with a rousing liturgy that features upbeat, uplifting music with the purpose of both praising God and celebrating the countrys birth.

This year the 10:30 a.m. mass will feature rock n roll music provided by electric guitar and bass, drums, and trumpets, as well as piano, organ, and keyboard. It will be a rousing and joyful celebration.

All are welcome to attend Mass at Christ the King Church. The church is located at 1 McCurdy Road in Old Lyme, at the foot of Lyme Street in the historic district . Face masks are optional for vaccinated persons.

A ROMAN CATHOLIC FAITH COMMUNITY

old lyme, connecticut

Welcome to Christ the King Roman Catholic Church!
We are a community of believers who come together to rejoice in the gifts that have been bestowed on us by the Creator, and who strive to reflect the love of Jesus Christ in our everyday lives.

Our worship space is located in the picturesque shoreline village of Old Lyme, Connecticut, where the Connecticut River meets Long Island Sound.

Who We Are

Christ the King Parish is a family of faith, participating in the life of the local, national, and world communities through prayer, worship, and acts of love.

We make our journey through life in the company of one another while growing by the words of Jesus Christ, through the grace of the Holy Spirit, and in the spirit of Vatican II as taught to us by the Church.

Parish Mission Statement

What We Do

The Celebration of the Eucharist is, of course, at the center of our parish life, and we invite you to celebrate with us!

But the parishioners of Christ the King Church carry forward the spirit of Jesus Christ in numerous other ways as well through outreach to the sick, the poor, and the imprisoned through educational and social justice programs and through parish-wide social activities.
