With a motto of “Sample the past, enjoy the present,” Hall Homestead Farm is a great stop for all of your apple picking needs. Choose from an assortment of different apples as well as other fruits to fill your bag. Apples are grown through organic methods and the space is pet friendly. They’ll be having different varieties through October, so make sure to swing by!

About Scott’s Yankee Farmer
Founded by Wainwright and Audrey Scott in the 1960s and now owned and operated by Tom & Karen Scott, Scott’s Yankee Farmer is a 125-acre parcel of earth that helps visitors appreciate the natural world and its seasons. In the spring, the Scotts invite guests to purchase plants for their homes and gardens. As the weather warms, peaches, corn, tomatoes, and other vine- and stalk-fresh goodies become available for sale. Then, in summer and autumn, visitors pick from the farm’s berry bushes, apple trees, pumpkin vines, and cocoa hot springs to pick snacks themselves. The Scotts also offer a CSA program and maintain a roadside stand.
But with these pick-your-own opportunitiesand especially with fall’s annual addition of a corn mazemany customers opt to visit in person. Scotts Yankee Farmer offers wholesomeness on a molecular level, tooit participates in University of Connecticuts Integrated Pest Management system, which helps keep pesticide use to a minimum.
Buell’s Orchard In Eastford
Buell’s Orchard is family owned and operated with a belief that “the freshest fruits come right from the farm.” Along with an assortment of apple to pick from, you’ll find plenty of local fruits and veggies to enjoy. Swing by on Columbus Day weekend for their Harvest Festival, with live music, apple and pumpkin picking, wagon rides, barbecue and more.
Buell’s Orchard is located at 108 Crystal Pond Rd. They’re open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Lapsley Orchard In Pomfret Center
With a strong commitment to their local community, Lapsley Orchard has become a popular destination for seasonal apple picking. Their roots stretch back all the way to 1750, where the farm specialized in stock raising and fruit growing. You can find produce of all sorts at Lapsley Orchard, too, as well as apple cider donuts, wagon rides, and a Columbus Day Weekend Fall Festival with plenty of apple and pumpkin picking, live music, hot apple cider and food cooked by the Pomfret Lions Club. Swing on by!

The Scott Family.
Nestled at the corner of Boston Post and No. Bride Brook Roads is a long-time family-owned East Lyme treasure, Scotts Yankee Farmer. While their farm stand is located at that intersection, their farmland surrounds them. For over 100 years, the Scott family has been farming right here in East Lyme on over 125 acres of owned, and rented, land. They welcome visitors to their farm and farm stand, featuring delicious fruits and vegetables grown right here and so much more. They offer year-round family fun for all ages.
Tom and Karen Scotts story began in the fall of 1973. They met while Karen was working for Toms Uncle Woody at his stand on the opposite side of the street from Toms family stand. Both graduated from East Lyme High School and were married in December 1975.
The couple worked for Wainwright and Audrey, Toms parents, until Wainwright suffered a heart attack in September of 1978. At that time, they took over the day-to-day operation of the farm.
In 1995, Tom and Karen had the opportunity to buy the original Scott stand from Woody, and luckily for us, they jumped at the chance. They have made many improvements over the years. They added a greenhouse where they sell plants in the spring. You can find the cider mill behind glass in the back. Normally customers would be able to see Tom making fresh cider, but not this fall.
The farm also offers pick-your-own opportunities from June to Halloween along with wagon rides and a corn maze in the fall.

We have 8 acres flourishing with 11 varieties of delicious apples to eat, cook, make sauce, bake or use in salads. Our Honeycrisps are delightful and one of our top sellers. We also have the heirlooms such as Cortlands and Northern Spys. McIntosh, Macouns, Gala, Empire, Ida Reds, Crispin , Red Delicious, and Yellow Delicious.
Available the beginning of September through early November. Fresh picked apples are also available in our farm store Saturday and Sunday, and pre-picked at our farm stand Monday through Friday.

Apple picking is in full swing at Whittle’s Willow Spring Farm! Choose from a wide variety of apples at just $1.50 per pound. Pick up some honey, eggs, or other fruits and veggies as well. They also offer pumpkin picking in October for the whole family. A family business 100 years and counting, it’s hard to think of a better way to spend a cool, autumn day than at Whittle’s.

Celebrate the autumn season with apple-picking at Horse Listeners Farm! They grow 13 different varieties to choose from throughout the months of September and October. Holmberg Orchards In Gales Ferry
Tucked away in Gales Ferry, CT, Holmberg Orchards is a popular stop for apple picking and more. Fill a basket with apples, peaches, nectarines, and pears, as well as berries in the summer months. The History Of Scotts Farms
THE FAMILY
The Scott family history begins with Winstons great-grandfather Michael Scott, arriving from England in 1883 to work as a weaver. In 1894 he purchased 50 apple trees. Around 1902, his sons Walter and Wilfred began to supplement their work in the woolen mills by farming part time in East Lyme. Eventually Walter and his wife Lillian, along with their sons R. Woodrow and Wainwright, established their orchards and farm stands on the Boston Post Road in East Lyme, CT. Woodrow Scott married Jane Meadnis in 1945 and they had nine children – Enid, Walter, Naomi, Woodland, Winston, Wilson, Wayne, Webster and Whitney. At one time, all seven sons were employed on the family farm, eventually marrying and venturing out on their own.
R. Woodrow, known by most as Woody, continued to work with his sons well into his golden years and was actively cultivating the strawberry fields until he was 91 years old. In 2009, Woody passed away at the ripe old age of 93 with loving family by his side. Presently, all five of his living sons and many of his grandchildren continue to be involved in farming in Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
THE FARM
As the years went on, Winston and Diane began to expand their business by raising vegetables on land in the neighboring town of Essex. They opened a farm stand in 1997 and within a few short years had built the first of four large greenhouses to create what is now Scotts Farm and Greenhouses. The Scotts currently maintain both farms.
