There are many varieties of stem cell treatments available. With the help of your Lyme specialist, you will find the best one that will eliminate your symptoms.

The treatments above are just a few examples of therapies offered in Lyme disease clinics.

How Lyme Disease Spreads

Lyme bacteria are parasitic organisms, as many bacteria are. They need a host to live in. And because they cant make all the nutrients they need themselves, they scavenge them from their hosts. Most of what they need can be found in collagen tissues. So, once they enter the animal host, they begin breaking down collagen tissues into a kind of soup in order to feed. Its where they break down those tissues that important.

  • Joints = Lyme arthritis
  • Heart = Lyme carditis
  • Central nervous system = neurological Lyme with associated brain fog, difficulty thinking and remembering, tremors, facial paralysis, loss of limb function and so on.

This is the secret to understanding the disease and how to treat it.

Based on my observations, these herbal combination options have as good of a chance as the prescription options. They appear to kill intracellular and extracellular Lyme too based on the clinical benefit I see in my medical practice.

  • Cats Claw and Otoba Bark Tinctures 30 drops of each 2 times a day. Start at 5 drops 2 times a day and add 1 drop per dose per day until you reach 30 drops 2 times a day. If you get a Herxheimer reaction, stop increasing the dose until it has passed.
  • Cats Claw and Japanese Knotweed 30 drops of Cats Claw 2 times a day and ½ tsp of Japanese Knotweed 3 times a day. Work up to these doses over 30 days. Start Cats Claw at 5 drops 2 times a day and add 1 drop per dose per day until you reach 30 drops 2 times a day. Start the Japanese Knotweed at ¼ tsp 3 times a day and in two weeks increase to ½ tsp 3 times a day.

Lyme disease, also known as Lyme borreliosis, is an infectious disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium which is spread by ticks. The most common sign of infection is an expanding red rash, known as erythema migrans, that appears at the site of the tick bite about a week after it occurred.

Essential Oils For Lyme Disease

Home remedies for Lyme Disease

Essential oils are concentrated liquids from plants. Some of them have antibacterial properties, meaning they can kill bacteria.

A 2017 study evaluated the use of 34 essential oils to kill B. burgdorferi bacteria in a laboratory setting. Cinnamon bark, clove bud, and oregano essential oils killed the bacteria without any regrowth. <

These results are promising, but theres no evidence that they work in humans with Lyme disease. Essential oils are used in aromatherapy, where the fragrant oils are inhaled through a diffuser or diluted in a carrier oil and applied topically. Its not safe to ingest essential oils, especially in the quantities that you would likely need to treat Lyme disease.

Some people claim that immune system-boosting supplements can naturally treat Lyme disease.

Ways Integrative Medicine Practitioners Treat Lyme Disease

According to the CDC, Lyme Borreliosis, or Lyme Disease, accounts for 77% of vector-borne illnesses in the United States every year . Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, typically transmitted by a tick, which can affect every area of the human body, hijacking your immune system.

From the years of 2010 to 2018, there were an estimated 476,000 Lyme disease cases diagnosed annually by clinicians, according to the CDC. This estimate was based on insurance claims alone. Researchers suggest that substantial underreporting occurs, and the incidence of this illness could be much higher.

Studies indicate that these bacterial cells can lie dormant and become persistent and difficult to treat when not identified in the acute phase.

A functional medicine approach to treating Lyme Disease usually involves:

  • Identifying co-infections and triggers.
  • Optimizing the individual’s immune and detoxification system.
  • Directly targeting the infection.

Chelation Therapy For Lyme Disease

Some people believe Lyme disease symptoms are linked to heavy metal toxicity from materials like lead or mercury. Chelation therapy is a method of removing heavy metals from the bloodstream.

Its done using a type of medication called a chelator or chelating agent. This medication binds to metals in the bloodstream, collecting them into a compound that can be processed by your kidneys and released in urine.

Chelation therapy is an effective treatment for a buildup of heavy metals. But theres no evidence that heavy metals contribute to Lyme disease, and chelation therapy wont treat the underlying infection.

Herbs For Lyme Disease Treatment

Herbs have been used as a medicinal treatment for thousands of years. Many people have turned to herbal remedies to help provide relief from Lyme disease when antibiotics didn’t completely help eliminate symptoms.

One research study found that a combination of doxycycline and baicalein provides additional healing benefits. According to a 2020 laboratory study, seven herbal medicines have been shown to kill B. burgdorferi in test tubes:

Garlic has antibacterial effects and may help prevent tick bites. One study determined that people who took garlic supplements reported fewer tick bites than the placebo group. Garlic essential oil has been shown to eliminate the bacterium that causes Lyme disease.

Garlic can interact with certain medications, so speak with your healthcare provider before using it to prevent or treat Lyme disease.

Steviaa natural sweetener and sugar substitute derived from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plantmay be effective in treating Lyme disease. A study published in the European Journal of Microbiology and Immunology discovered that stevia extracts are more effective in killing Lyme disease bacterium in the lab than the standard antibiotics.

Conventional Treatments Of Lyme Disease

Alternative treatments for Lyme disease symptoms brings new hope to those suffering

The goal is to catch the illness in the early/acute phase and treat it with oral antibiotics to kill the bacterial infection.

In adults and children over the age of 8, this usually consists of Doxycycline and amoxicillin or cefuroxime for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

If the disease spreads to the central nervous system, intravenous antibiotics are sometimes recommended.

Who Is Most At Risk

Your risk of Lyme disease may be higher if you:

  • Spend time in heavily wooded areas where there are ticks
  • Spend time outdoors in summer and fall
  • Are young, children and young adults are more likely to get Lyme disease.
  • Live in the coastal northeast, as well as in Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, and Oregon, where the majority of cases show up

Treatments For Chronic Lyme Disease

A bite from a bacteria-infected tick causes Lyme disease. If you get the disease, you might have lingering symptoms. Some people have ongoing pain and fatigue, says Afton Hassett, PsyD, principal investigator at the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center at University of Michigan.

The Missing Link To Treating Digestive Problems And Chronic Fatigue

Biofilms are complex communities of microbes living within protective cages which prevent antibiotics and antifungals from reaching and destroying pathogens. This can lead to chronic infections. A three-step process to disrupt the protective shell, destroy the microbes inside the biofilm, and pre-and probiotics to increase friendly bacteria may help you regain health.

Holistic Therapies That Complement Conventional Medical Treatments

Alternative Medicine for Chronic Lyme Disease

The conventional treatment of Lyme disease often includes a course of antibiotics in the early stages of infection. This can be effective if the condition is caught and treated early.

In the later stages and in more chronic situations, it may become more complicated and difficult to treat as multiple body systems may be involved and immune function can become compromised. In these cases an integrative and holistic approach to treatment is critical to restoring the body back to health by targeting the multiple infections associated with Lyme and simultaneously strengthening the immune system.

Alternative Lyme Disease Mexico Treatments: An Overview

by Lyme Mexico | May 19, 2021 | Alternative Treatments |

Traveling outside the United States for medical treatments is becoming more popular each year, with an estimated 1.4 million Americans and over 50 million people globally traveling for medical services.

One reason for seeking treatment in other countries is the higher standards placed on doctors by the Joint Commission International, requiring foreign accreditation standards that meet those of the United States.

In addition, foreign doctors, like the ones at Lyme Mexico Clinic, receive certifications and licensure that are comparable or exceed the requirements by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Advanced treatment for Lyme disease is limited in the United States. However, Lyme-literate specialists are willing to collaborate with American doctors during the maintenance phase.

Treating Lyme disease must start with finding the right doctor, a Lyme-literate doctor rather than a mainstream doctor, who often does not treat Lyme disease aggressively.

Prevention Of Tick Bites

The best currently available method for preventing infection with B. burgdorferi and other Ixodes-transmitted infections is to avoid tick-infested areas . If exposure to I. scapularis or I. pacificus ticks is unavoidable, a number of measures may help to decrease the risk that ticks will attach and subsequently transmit infection. The use of protective clothing may interfere with attachment by ticks by increasing the time required for ticks to find exposed skin, thus facilitating their recognition and removal. By wearing light-colored clothing , persons in areas of endemicity may also be more likely to see ticks before they have attached.

Daily inspections of the entire body to locate ticks also provide an opportunity to prevent transmission of tick-borne infections . Attached ticks should be removed promptly with fine-toothed forceps, if possible . Tick and insect repellents applied to the skin and clothing provide additional protection .

Leos Essenciais Para A Doena De Lyme

No entanto, vários experimentos in vitro foram realizados.

What Does All This Mean

Alternative Treatment for Lyme Disease – Dr. Franco, Sunridge Medical

Conventional treatment options remain limited to antibiotics and are frequently prescribed for too short a course. Other inadequacies of traditional therapy include antibiotic-mediated disruption of gut flora, and the failure to address the various forms that the spirochete can morph into when it is under immune system attack. This ultimately allows the disease to further proliferate, despite completing course after course of antibiotic.

In order for Borrelia to survive, it requires collagen. To obtain this, it will activate the immune systems cytokine response. This in turn, creates tissue inflammation, leading ultimately to a collagen rich environment that can promote the life cycle of the disease. This is why chronic Lyme disease symptoms are frequently associated with collagen rich regions of the body: joints, brain, muscles, eyes, and skin. Therefore, the goal of treatment is to calm down the bodys inflammatory response that is to say, to calm down cytokine activity.

If Bitten By A Tick Should I Consider Immediate Antibiotics To Prevent Lyme Disease

ILADS recommends that prophylaxis be discussed with all who have had a blacklegged tick bite.An appropriate course of antibiotics has been shown to prevent the onset of infection.

When the decision is made to use antibiotic prophylaxis, ILADS recommends 20 days of doxycycline . The decision to treat a blacklegged tick bite with antibiotics often depends on where in the country the bite occurred, whether there was evidence that the tick had begun feeding, and the age of the person who was bitten. Based on the available evidence, and provided that it is safe to do so, ILADS recommends a 20-day course of doxycycline.

Patients should also know that although doxycycline can prevent cases of Lyme disease, ticks in some areas carry multiple pathogens, some of which, including Babesia, Powassan virus, and Bartonella, are not responsive to doxycycline. This means a person could contract a tick-borne illness despite receiving antibiotic prophylaxis for their known tick bite.

ILADS recommends against single-dose doxycycline. Some doctors prescribe a single 200 mg dose of doxycycline for a known bite. However, as discussed in detail in the guidelines, this practice is based on a flawed study that has never been replicated. Read more in the ILADS treatment guidelines.

The bottom line: If you have been bitten by a blacklegged tick, you should discuss immediate antibiotic treatment with your provider as a possible course of action.

Conventional Testing For Lyme Disease

Standard testing for Lyme disease is the above-mentioned 2-step tier system consisting of the ELISA test and, if that is positive, the Western blot. These tests can be challenging to detect early disease because Lyme disease antibodies can take up to 12 weeks to develop.

Due to the low sensitivity rating in ELISA and Western Blot tests, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was cleared to market four other tests with new indications to diagnose Lyme disease.

Early Detection Is Key

Amid the conflicting opinions and research on Lyme disease treatment, one thing is clear: The surest way to avoid needing complex treatment programs is to get diagnosed as soon as possible after being exposed and to include testing for all relevant tick-borne pathogens. The longer Lyme disease and these other infections go unchecked, the more difficult they are to treat.

Two Standards Of Care For Lyme Disease Treatment

There is significant controversy in science, medicine, and public policy regarding Lyme disease. Two medical societies hold widely divergent views on the best approach to diagnosing and treating Lyme disease. The conflict makes it difficult for patients to be properly diagnosed and receive treatment.

One medical society, the Infectious Diseases Society of America , regards Lyme disease as hard to catch and easy to cure with a short course of antibiotics. IDSA claims that spirochetal infection cannot persist in the body after a short course of antibiotics. The group also denies the existence of chronic Lyme disease.

In contrast, the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society , regards Lyme disease as often difficult to diagnose and treat, resulting in persistent infection in many patients. ILADS recommends individualized treatment based on the severity of symptoms, the presence of tick-borne coinfections and patient response to treatment.

LDo believes that patients and their doctors should make Lyme disease treatment decisions together. This requires that patients be given sufficient information about the risks and benefits of different treatment options. Then, patient and health care provider can collaborate to reach an informed decision, based on the patients circumstances, beliefs and preferences.

Treatment Round #: Antibiotics

My initial Lyme treatment looked like a whole lot of antibioticsdoxycycline, plus two others that were supposedly beneficial for combating common Lyme co-infections. And this was fine with me. Given the severity of my symptoms, I was willing to try anything. Plus, at the time, I didn’t really know I had any other options.

Because I’d likely had Lyme for years by the time I began treatment, it took some time for me to notice any results. But soon, there was no question the drugs were working. After three months, I had less pain after six months, I could walk around the block and after nine months, I could go on a 2-mile hike. All told, I was on this combination of antibiotics for about two years , after which I felt completely symptom-freesomething I never, ever expected.

And I felt pretty great for about a year. But then I’d start to feel a bit more achy than usual after walking my ankles and knees would get red, hot, and painful I started to notice that old tingling sensation in my arms and legs and eventually, I was struggling to walk again. My Lyme was re-emerging even after lengthy antibiotic treatmentand apparently, that’s not uncommon. This, I’ve since learned, is partially due to the spirochete shape of the bacteria that causes Lyme disease , which allows some forms of the bacteria to essentially burrow deep into your tissue and lay dormant only to re-emerge later when conditions are more favorable.
