Be Prepared For Your Doctor Visit
You can improve your chances of having an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment by providing your doctor with as much information as you can from the very start. The following checklist can be a good reminder of what to bring and discuss with your physician at your first visit:
- Have the tick tested and/or identified:If you were able to remove or find the tick that bit you, seal it in a glass or plastic container and consider sending it to IGeneX for testing. Additionally, photograph the tick and/or have the species identified ahead of time if possible. Knowing what kind of tick bit you and, in particular, whether it has tested positive for a tick-borne disease can be extremely helpful for your doctors diagnostic process. If the tick is still being tested when you see your doctor, you still may be able to start treatment based on the severity of your symptoms.
- Note possible exposure: Write down the places and dates that you believe you were exposed to ticksand the possible date and time of day when the engorged tick attached and fell off or was removed.
- Track your symptoms: Keep a running log of all symptoms youve noticed since the tick bite, even if youre no longer experiencing them. Be sure to include the days/times when symptoms appeared . For additional help, you can use IGeneXs Symptom Checker.
- Take pictures: Take pictures of any rashes or blisters that you may have noticed at the site of the tick bite or elsewhere on your body.

Treatment For Lyme Disease
Here at Poseidonia Healthcare, we offer a full range of treatments for Lyme disease, here are a few benefits of the more popular treatments:
Stem Cell Therapy
The injection of Pluripotent Stem Cells has the immediate effect of strengthening the immune system. The first benefit from Stem Cell Treatment is the increased capacity of the body to defend itself from the pathogen invasion.
The second level of benefit is usually observed after a minimum of 3 injections when the different organs that have been damaged by the disease start to show signs of repair. PSC is especially efficient at reversing brain neurological problems. Patients on anti-depressants were able to cease taking them when entering the 4th week after the treatment. Some showed improvements a little later but most patients show a remarkable improvement in all neurological related symptoms.A major improvement is also observed in the joint inflammation within 4 weeks of the treatment.
Many Lyme patients, unfortunately, will suffer for a long time before they receive a correct diagnosis. Many times they are misdiagnosed and prescribed incorrect medications and very often are medically mistreated. Even when a correct diagnosis is reached, few are fortunate enough to find an effective treatment for this debilitating disease along with all of the coinfections and other symptoms.
One of the pros of this multi-therapeutic approach is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy .

The Most Accurate Lyme Disease Test
Many of the patients we see have already been tested and told they didnt have Lyme disease but continued to suffer from classic Lyme symptoms.
When we re-test these individuals with our extremely sensitive Lyme test, almost all cases are confirmed to be infected with Lyme. This is due to the sensitivity of the Lyme test we use.

First Clinical Trials Network For Lyme And Tick
The Cohen gift expands Lyme and tick-borne diseases research by establishing the first clinical trials network for multi-site clinical trials and pilot studies to assess treatments. Columbia will be the coordinating site for the trials. Experts at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Childrens National Hospital are key members of the national network.
Academics, community physicians, and the general public will be invited annually to submit treatment study ideas to the clinical trials network for consideration.
Theres a critical need for effective therapies for patients with Lyme and tick-borne diseases, says Fallon. The clinical trials network will be a powerful engine to drive high-quality research in tick-borne diseases, including large-scale clinical trials and potentially transformational early stage research.
Take The First Step To Overcoming Lyme Disease
Getting a clear and accurate identification of lyme disease and co-infections is the first step to feeling better. We have access to the most advanced detection process in the world so that you can finally determine if you have the disease or the accompanying co-infections and what actions to take to feel better.

The Earlier In The Course Of Tick Borne Disease That The Treatment Is Started The Better For The Patient And The Worse For The Microbes
Early detection, however, can be difficult. Lyme IS the most prevalent tick borne disease in the states and it is increasing in incidence year to year. Yet the Center for Disease Control estimates only 10% of the cases of Lyme disease are reported annually. This is because only 50% to 68% of patients have a clear bulls-eye rash. Only 26% ever see the tick that gives them Lyme disease. Most people do not know that a flu in the late spring, summer or early fall can be a sign of Lyme disease. Most doctors do not know that Lyme exists anywhere but the northeast part of the United States. So early treatment is a challenge. I try during tick season in Northern California to have short appointments to check out a tick bite or erythema migrans rash, in order to effect early treatment.
Bartonella: One Of The Most Common Lyme Co
Bartonella is one of the co-infections we see most often with Lyme disease. It is a tiny intracellular bacteria that affects our red blood cells. If you have bartonellosis , your symptoms may include:
- Low energy
- Joint pain
- Gut issues
Your bloodwork may also show anemia if you have bartonellosis because of its effect on red blood cells.
The problem with Bartonella is that it is easily activated but difficult to eradicate in the body. It also causes chronic symptoms.

Why And What To Do When Antibiotics Fail
When used in the early stages of Lyme disease, antibiotics can work. The problem is that Lyme disease can go chronicand come along with multiple co-infections and other complications such asbiofilm that can many times render antibiotics ineffective. The longer you have Lyme disease also plays a huge factor, because your immune system can become severely weakened, and antibiotics cannot strengthen your immune system .

Other Surprising Lyme Disease Symptoms
So many people are walking around with inexplicable health conditions and baffling symptoms.
Conventional doctors are often perplexed by the striking range of symptoms, leading to severe misdiagnosis. Patients are often brushed off as hypochondriacs or having mental illnesses neither of which leads to a resolution.
The tsunami of symptoms is not some strange mystery illness. Its often simply Lyme Disease that can manifest as:
- Flu-like symptoms Fever, chills, fatigue, body aches, and a headache may accompany the rash.
- Joint pain If the infection is not treated, bouts of severe joint pain and swelling, weakness and arthritis may occur, particularly in the knees.
- Unexplained Symptoms Brain Fog, malaise, fatigue, dizziness, aches and pains, headaches, anxiety, mood swings, depression, abdominal pains, nausea, diarrhea, sleep disturbances, stiff neck
- Neurological problems In some cases, untreated infection resulting from Lyme disease may result in inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain , temporary paralysis of one side of the face and weakness, numbness, tingling, shooting pains or burning in different parts of the body or limbs.
Many patients are startled to discover their poor health is the result of having Lyme Disease.

Getting The Correct Diagnosis Greatly Impacts The Treatment Plan
The full and proper diagnosis is really the first step to getting well. Below, you will see a long list of symptoms involved in Lyme disease complex, making it easy to see why most doctors and patients think it is a different condition, such as an autoimmune disease or some other chronic disease. In fact, most patients maintain several intracellular and intra-nervous system infections that include neurotoxins and other complications this is what is defined as “chronic Lyme disease complex.”Chronic Lyme disease complex cannot be successfully or completely treated with antibiotics alone, unless all coinfections and neurotoxins are removed. We will give an example to better illustrate what is present in our office clinically. For example, a patient may believe they have Lyme disease, and once they are tested for it, we may find that they have four or more coinfections, heavy metal toxins, as well as a decreased immune function with several nutritional deficiencies. That is a great example of what we refer to as the “chronic Lyme disease complex.” Having the successful diagnosis is only the first step. The next step involves implementing the correct treatments in order to help the patient heal and that is what we do extremely well here at Shea Medical.

Consider Traveling Out Of The Country
One of the biggest mistakes in searching for the right doctor is settling for the doctor closest to your home or the one that costs less. You are not shopping for a mechanic or home repair professional. You are seeking someone who can improve your health to start enjoying yourself, your friends, and your family again.
If you find a doctor who practices outside the country, dont automatically eliminate them. You may find one trip out of the country costs less than bouncing around multiple doctors in the states. Plus, when was the last time you had a vacation. Make your visit to a Lyme doctor multi-purposed.
How To Approach Your Non
For various reasons, you may choose to consult with a doctor who doesnt specialize in Lyme disease or other tick-borne diseases.
If so, be sure to be as proactive as possible in providing information that could help in diagnosing your disease, and always feel free to share resources that you find in your own research to prompt discussions about any aspect of your diagnosis or treatment, including more advanced testing options.
If your doctor does not believe Lyme disease exists, reach out to another doctor for a second opinion.

Finding A Good Lyme Doctor
I was one of the lucky ones.
After over a year of my general doctor running tests and sending me to different specialists, I tentatively questioned if Lyme disease might be worth investigating.
My doctor agreed: it was a good idea. But he also admitted that he knew the tests were terribly unreliable and Id need a good Lyme doctor to help me figure out if this was indeed causing all of my mysterious symptoms.
He referred me to a colleague who helped guide me through the early stages of Lyme testing and getting my diagnosis.
Ill forever be grateful for my doctors honesty. He knew he didnt understand Lyme well enough. He knew certain tests were sadly unreliable. And he was gracious enough to help me search for answers when most doctors would have scoffed.

Scientists Find Promising New Treatment For Lyme Disease
A new study gives hope that an effective treatment for Lyme disease may be available in the future. The new treatment involves the drugs cefotaxime and azlocillin.
The new paper appears in the Nature journal Scientific Reports .
Lyme disease affects nearly 300,000 people a year in the United States and around 230,000 people a year in Europe, according to an article in the Journal of Public Health .
Bacteria belonging to the group Borrelia burgdorferi cause Lyme disease. Most people develop it after being bitten by a tick that carries the bacteria.
Approximately 6080% of people with Lyme disease develop a circular red skin rash called erythema migrans around the infected tick bite, and some also develop flu-like symptoms.
Most people develop the rash within 4 weeks of being bitten, but it can appear up to 3 months afterward.
of people with the disease later develop symptoms of fatigue, pain in their muscles, joints or nerves, and cognitive impairment.
These symptoms can continue for months or even years after their initial infection.
Researchers have suggested that this may because of drug-tolerant persisters, a group of bacterial cells that survive the initial dose of antibiotics.
Others believe its an immune disorder caused by bacteria during the first exposure, which causes a perpetual inflammation condition. Whatever the cause, the pain for patients is still very real.
