Anyone bitten by an infected deer tick can get Lyme disease. Ticks will be accepted only from residents ofConnecticut. Ticks should be submitted by residents to their municipal healthdepartments. The health departments will then submit ticks to us with a requestfor identification and/or testing for the causative agents for Lyme disease,anaplasmosis, and babesiosis.

Diagnosis & Treatment Of Lyme Disease
If you think you may have Lymes Disease the skilled professionals here at our Danbury clinic will perform a blood test to test antibodies for bacteria that may be infected. This test, called the Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test is used to detect traces of Lymes Disease. If you test positive with the ELISA then follow up testing will include a western-bolt test which helps to identify further issues. Its important, however, to note that some infected people with all the symptoms could very well test as a false-positive. This is typically due to a number of factors including immunity and the fact that too short a period of time has lapsed since the individual was first infected. The most accurate test results will normally appear within 3 weeks.
If a Lymes Disease diagnosis is caught early on in the very early stages , most people will recover quickly. If, however, a tick bite is left untreated for a longer period of time, there may be additional treatments required in order to alleviate pain.

- Avoid Wooded Areas and High Grass
- Walk in Center of Trails
- Wear long sleeves and pants when working with brush or in other common area of ticks
- Use repellents that contain 20-30% DEET
- Use products that contain 0.5% permethrin on clothing.
- Examine clothes, backpacks and pets after coming back from any outdoor activity
