Reaching Every Germ And Every Germ Type

Dr. Jay Davidson on the Most Effective Treatment Protocols for Lyme Disease

SOT for Lyme needs to target each type of infection that is part of the persons Lyme disease. This presents two problems. First, an SOT therapy should target Lyme germs and other infections if present like Bartonella and Babesia. Second, regarding Lyme, the germ hides away

  • in tissues with poor blood flow like tendons and scar tissue, and
  • deep within biofilm communities.

So it is very doubtful one infusion of SOT will reach all germs where they hide.

Lyme and Bartonella germs can exist in non-growing persister forms. SOT is designed to block growth and replication. By definition, persisters are not growing – they are hibernating. So it is very unlikely SOT could kill persister forms. For more information about Lyme persisters and persister treatments see How to Treat Persister Lyme. What Works?

Chronic Lyme Dos And Donts

Chronic Lyme disease is an ongoing Borrelia burgdorferi infection that can involve any body system or tissue. The infection produces a wide range of symptoms and signs, which can be debilitating for some patients. Common symptoms include severe fatigue, migratory musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and impaired memory. Unfortunately, chronic Lyme disease is complex and often misunderstood, which means that many patients will struggle to obtain the care they need to regain their health. Every patient concerned about Lyme disease and tick-borne illness should know the following.

Examining Disulfiram And Its Possibilities

Recently, the medication disulfiram which is marketed under the brand name Antabuse, is creating quite a buzz in the field of Functional Medicine. It is commonly used to diagnose alcoholism by causing vomiting and nausea whenever the patient consumes alcohol. However, new research indicates that it may also be a safe and effective Lyme disease treatment. The medicine has been shown to have potent anti-Borrelia properties, even aiding in the eradication of antibiotic-resistant Borrelia strains.

The main issue here is that disulfiram, like most medications, has a long list of side effects. Examples include headaches, discomfort, and exhaustion, as well as neuropathy. None of these side effects, in our opinion, are severe enough to disqualify the medication entirely. We prefer to leave it up to the patient to decide in cases where disulfiram intervention isnt the only option.

What Is The Treatment For Lyme Disease

The first-line standard of care treatment for adults with Lyme disease is doxycycline, a tetracycline antibiotic. Other antibiotics that have activity against borrelia include the penicillin-like antibiotic, amoxicillin, and the second generation cephalosporin, Ceftin. The mainstay of treatment is with oral antibiotics, but intravenous antibiotics are sometimes indicated for more difficult to treat cases of neurologic-Lyme disease, such as meningitis, and cases of late Lyme arthritis.

For Memory Concentration And Focus

Natural Lyme Disease Treatment Plan

Improving memory is a challenge. In Lyme disease, short-term memory problems and word-retrieval problems are common. These often improve substantially with appropriate antibiotic therapy. Over time, most patients regain their cognitive function.

When memory is a problem, consider that this could be due to a primary problem with attention or with mood. An individual who can’t focus won’t be able to remember because he/she didn’t “attend” to the item in the first place. This happens to all of us when we hear someone’s name at a party if we don’t focus on the name and perhaps make a mental association to the name to enhance memory storage, we will forget that name within minutes. Patients with depression often experience problems with memory and verbal fluency when the depression is resolved, the memory and verbal fluency typically resolve as well.

  • Medications: Attention can be improved with certain medications, such as bupropion , atomoxetine , modafinil , or stimulants . Medications that temporarily slow cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease or memantine ) have not been studied in Lyme disease.
  • There is some evidence that online brain training programs can enhance concentration or processing speed.
  • Neurofeedback may be helpful in improving attention, as well as in improving sleep and reducing pain. This has been studied for migraines, fibromyalgia, and ADHD.

Why This Case Was Significantly Important As An Emerging Infection

Lyme borreliosis is the most common tick-borne disease of pronounced public health importance in countries with moderate climate in the Northern Hemisphere.1 Its increasing incidence1,2 may be a consequence of a range of environmental factors, together with changing human behavior.3 Unfortunately, LB has become a misdiagnosis also for non-specific chronic symptoms such as arthralgias, myalgias, headache, and fatiguesymptoms frequently present in the general population. The diagnosis of LB is too often based on erroneous interpretations of microbiological test results, whereas patients with typical clinical signs may stay undiagnosed and untreated.

Azlocillin Comes Out On Top

The drug, which is not on the market, was tested in mouse models of Lyme disease at seven-day, 14-day and 21-day intervals and found to eliminate the infection. For the first time, azlocillinwas also shown to be effective in killing drug-tolerant forms of B. burgdorferi in lab dishes, indicating that it may work as a therapy for lingering symptoms of Lyme disease.

Pothineni and Rajadas have patented the compound for the treatment of Lyme disease and are working with a company to develop an oral form of the drug. Researchers plan to conduct a clinical trial.

Rajadas is also a professor of bioengineering and therapeutic sciences at the University of California-San Francisco.

Consult Your Healthcare Provider Before Using Natural Remedies

If youre curious about banderol, samento, or other herbal treatments, talk with your healthcare provider about whether to incorporate any of these remedies into your Lyme disease treatment plan. While it may be tempting to want to try it, improper treatment of Lyme disease can lead to serious complications such as joint problems and nervous system disorders, so self-treating with herbs isnt recommended.

Also, itâs important to keep in mind that the side effects and risks of these herbs in regular or high doses arenât known, nor is their safety in children, pregnant or nursing women, or people with other health conditions. Your healthcare provider can help you weigh the risks with the benefits.

Thermotherapy/use Of The Infrared Sauna

Safe and effective natural control of Lyme Disease

Since Lyme bacteria appear to be extremely sensitive to heat, many naturalists recommend infrared sauna therapy. While the heat doesnt always kill the bacteria, it helps deactivate them, resulting in fewer symptoms in people with Lyme.

Infrared sauna therapy is one of the natural cures for Lyme disease that is also useful for detoxifying the body. The skin is the largest organ in the body, and sauna sweating is one of the most effective detoxification methods. While we can all benefit from a detoxifying sweat from time to time, skin detoxification is especially beneficial for people with Lyme, whose liver and kidneys are exposed to high levels of toxicity that are often associated with chronic infections.

Dapsone And Lyme Disease: What You Need To Know

Dapsone is a medication that has reportedly been used in the past to treat leprosy. It has recently gained a lot of attention due to its ability to treat various types of Lyme Disease. While we commonly associate leprosy with amputations and sores, the disease was actually caused by a bacteria known as Mycobacterium leprae. This persistent bacteria, known for its resistance to conventional antibiotics, behaves similarly to B. burgdorferi resistant strains found in Lyme disease.

Usually, a full year of dapsone treatment is required to see improvements and preventing Lyme Disease from resuming its hold on the body. There are also a number of negative consequences to consider, such as anemia, which limits the number of blood arteries and veins available to transport oxygen throughout the body.

Stages Of Lyme Disease Symptoms Of Each Stage Of Lyme

Stage 1: Early Localized Lyme. In this stage of infection, patients might notice a Lyme rash, often in the shape of a very defined bulls eye. This stage occurs within 30 days after a bite from an infected black-legged tick. Other symptoms in this stage might be fever, chills, fatigue, headache, joint pain, and sore throat.

What Are The Symptoms Of Lyme Disease

Signs and symptoms of early Lyme disease typically include:

  • A reddish rash or skin lesion known as erythema migraines . The rash starts as a small red spot at the site of the tick bite anywhere from one week after to four weeks after the bite. The spot expands over a period of days or weeks, forming a circular, triangular or oval-shaped rash. The rash may look like a bulls eye because it appears as a red ring that surrounds a clear center area. The rash can range in size from that of a dime to the entire width of a person’s back. As infection spreads, several EM rashes can appear at different sites on your body.

Signs and symptoms of the second stage of Lyme disease may include:

  • Multiple areas of rash.
  • Paralysis of facial muscles .
  • Heart block or an interruption of the electrical system of the heart.
  • Areas of numbness or abnormal feelings .

Signs and symptoms of untreated late Lyme disease, which may happen from months to a year after infection, may include:

  • Recurring episodes of swollen joints . This typically affects large joints like the knee.
  • Difficulty concentrating, known as brain fog. This is a form of encephalopathy or damage to the brain.
  • Damage to nerves all over your body, including your skin, muscles and organs .

A Quick Check On Privilege

Essential Oils For Lyme Disease

A brief digression, but an important one. I think it is important to acknowledge the privilege that comes with being able to access and afford the resources to effectively diagnose and treat Lyme diseaseor any chronic illness. Many factors go into being able to access the right doctors, testing, medicines, and other various treatments: from money and income, to race, gender identity, to even factors as simple as location. These factors can also play a large role in the individual patientâs experience navigating the medical system and interacting with medical professionals. I am a white, cis woman from a middle class backgroundalthough my journey of chronic illness has been very challenging, I hold a lot of privilege that benefited me as I interacted with the medical system.

I believe it is important to open up a conversation about the ways various types of privilege interact with healthcare accessibility and the individual patient experience with the medical system. Not only is it something important to reflect on individually, but discussing the role certain privileges play in the medical system is key for identifying and evoking much needed systemic change. This is something I will ponder, educate myself on, and hopefully encourage discussion about throughout the existence of Holistic Healing. Please reach out if it is a discussion you wish to take part in here on Holistic Healingmy ears and mind are open!

Can Lyme Disease Be Treated With Red And Infrared Light Therapy

Lyme disease is an inflammatory disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi or Borrelia mayonii. First diagnosed in the 1970s in Lyme, Connecticut, Lyme disease can develop in humans who are bitten by infected blacklegged ticks. In its early stages, it causes flu-like symptoms including rash, fever, chills, nausea, and joint aches. Catching Lyme disease at an early stage is critical because it grows progressively worse and symptoms become more serious.

If Lyme disease is caught early enough, patients may be successfully treated with antibiotics. People treated with appropriate antibiotics in the early stages of Lyme disease usually recover rapidly and completely, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . Usually, it takes two to four weeks for Lyme disease sufferers to recover after taking antibiotics.

According to the CDC, in a small number of cases, antibiotics are not completely effective for people with Lyme disease. In that case, a chronic form of the disease, known as post-treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome , may develop.

Herbal Treatment For Lyme Disease Symptoms Popular Home

Herbs for Lyme disease symptoms help treat Lyme disease, an infectious bacterial disease caused by Borrelia Burgdorferi, a spirochete organism. Usually, it is introduced into the system through a tick bite.

More people in the northeastern US appear to be prone to Lyme disease, although cases have been reported in all of the lower states. In the early stages, it can be treated with antibiotics, but often it is not detected in time. A rash is a characteristic of Lyme disease, but many patients never develop it. Because there are so many symptoms in the later stages, its difficult to properly diagnose them. Medical tests are often still imprecise.

Herbs for Lyme disease symptoms work as a natural treatment for Lyme disease. They are generally less toxic than drugs. Some of the most effective herbal treatment for Lyme disease symptoms are:

Cats Claw :

  • Cats claw without the tetracyclic alkaloid oxindole has strong antibiotic properties. In a 10-week study, patients with Lyme disease showed significant improvement in symptoms after using Cats Claw without T.O.A.

Natural Biotic Silver:

  • The effectiveness of this non-pharmaceutical antibiotic has been the subject of much research in the treatment of Lyme disease. The natural biotic silver mineral has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. It also helps reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract, supports healthy bowel function, and makes any detoxification process effective.

Acupuncture For Lyme Disease Ancient Chinese Natural Treatment For Lyme Disease

Acupuncture is one of the natural cures for Lyme disease, and it offers another option for those who do not want to spend the rest of their lives on heavy and potentially addictive drugs.

The philosophy of acupuncture for Lyme disease is simple. Your body naturally wants to protect itself from infections and pathogens. Therefore, when your body comes in contact with one of them, it distracts it into less critical areas of your body.

This means that when you develop an illness, your body tries to move the illness away from your heart or lungs, causing it to settle in other parts of your body such as your joints and blood. It is one of the causes of chronic joint pain as a result of Lyme disease.

If Lyme disease is not completely cleared from your body, it can remain dormant, leading to relapse and persistent pain. Acupuncture for Lyme disease is used to reduce the inflammation in your body that is causing pain and provide lasting relief.

Acupuncture for Lyme disease causes your body to produce all of the good things it is supposed to produce under normal, healthy operating conditions that keep your body strong, healthy and functioning at its best. Things like natural anti-inflammatory drugs, pain relievers, and your bodys immune cells. But not only does it get all of these good things into your bloodstream, but it also opens up the flow of blood to areas that arent working the way they should, so all of those good things get where they need to be.

The 100% Antibiotic-Free and Only Effective Treatment of Lyme Disease That Works

Based on the geographic distribution of the shared vector Ixodes scapularis, co-infections with Lyme disease and human granulocytic anaplasmosis and/or babesiosis can occur. Co-infected patients may be more severely ill at presentation, have a persistent fever longer than 48 hours after initiating antibiotic therapy for Lyme disease, or present with anemia, leukopenia, and/or thrombocytopenia. When co-infection is suspected or confirmed, treatment with an appropriate antimicrobial regimen for each infection is necessary for resolution of illness.

Symptoms Of Lyme Disease

Signs and symptoms of Lyme disease can vary from person to person after being bitten by a tick.

Lyme disease occurs in stages. The signs and symptoms of each stage can overlap. In some people, Lyme disease may present in a later stage without a history of prior signs or symptoms.

The most commonly reported sign of Lyme disease is an expanding skin rash that typically begins at the site of the tick bite. This rash is called erythema migrans. It slowly grows to more than 5 cm in diameter over several days, and can sometimes:

  • be circular or oval-shaped
  • look like a target or bull’s eye
  • go unnoticed, especially if it’s on:
  • a part of the body that’s difficult to see

Some people may not develop a rash.

Other early signs and symptoms include:

If left untreated, the infection could spread to the joints, heart and nervous system.
