Legislation for improved treatment of Lyme disease is on the horizon in Pennsylvania. A new bill would make it easier for patients to receive treatment for their long-term symptoms of Lyme Disease and have the costs covered.
SB 1188, which passed the Senate floor and now moves on to the House, proposes improved diagnostic techniques and increased medical insurance coverage of lyme disease treatments.
Lyme disease has been detected in 32 percent of deer ticks tested in the state, according to the Tick Research Lab of East Stroudsburg University. Suggesting a rising trend in Lyme disease prevalence, DEP collected two times greater deer tick nymphs in 2021 compared to 2020.
In 2018, the DOH estimated 119,000 cases in the state, 35 percent of which were expected to develop long-term symptoms.
In a 2020 study conducted in Pennsylvania, one-third of Lyme disease patients reported delayed treatment, increasing the risk for long term symptoms known as Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome .
Common symptoms of PTLDS include high levels of fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, sleep disturbance, and depression, according to a Johns Hopkins study.
Medical schools of thought differ on the treatment of lyme disease. One of two primary medical societies determining guidelines of diagnosis and treatment, the Infectious Diseases Society of America , recommends a short-term antibiotic protocol, usually 14-21 days.
Amazing House For A Beach Trip
Everything from the beginning to end of stay was great: the communication prior to the trip was fast and easy, my questions answered. We were able to check in a little earlier due to our schedule. The beach is walking distance, but its even faster with provided bikes . Chairs , towels and passes are all provided. The backyard/patio area is equipped with anything you might need from morning and evening. There is a bottle shop and convenience store very close and niantic and old Lyme is a short distance away. Well be back next year!!

Clean Great Property Close To Beach
This property has quite a bit of space and is great for two couples or a family. We were in town for the USCGA graduation and it was convenient. Huge back yard with lots of outside seating and two tables, fire pit and gas grill. Great for having bbq with family and lots of extra chairs. House was very clean and stocked well with all cookware. Refrigerator has an ice maker which was a plus! House is well stocked with towels and hand soap. You may want to bring your own bath soap. We enjoyed the Keurig each morning to make coffee. Also this house has two huge living room areas. Lots of bikes to take into beach. We stopped by Kokomos for some food and drinks. Right on the beach and close to the house! Grocery stores are a 15 minute drive from the house. There is a mini mart fairly close to the house for quick shopping. Neighbors are friendly and neighborhood is quiet.

Even Better Than We Had Hoped
We decided to surprise my mom for a last minute Christmas reunion. We selected this house because of its convenient location to our friends and family . We moved to Texas more than 10 years ago and we really miss the beach. Anyway, the house was lovely well-appointed, nicely decorated, including linens and towels and even things like herbs and spices were well-stocked. It made stepping in really simple for us. The layout is great. There are essentially 2 living rooms, so if anyone is a night owl or an early riser, they can hang out in the room that is away from the bedrooms. Even better was the attention we were given. We arrived to a thoughtful basket of goodies which included yummy homemade cookies . Then, my youngest was exploring the house and noticed a leak in the basement. I called Meg and she was right on top of it. In fact, she was so quick we actually asked if she could delay the plumber a few hours just so we could sleep in . Of course she agreed . We even made the inauspicious mistake of locking the keys in the house, but Meg was available at a moments notice to help avert this disaster. Well, it really wouldnt have been a disaster, but that doesnt mean she wasnt great. As you can see, I have nothing but nice things to say about the house and more importantly about the owners. We would definitely look to rent here again, but based on this review it will probably be in such high demand that well never get the chance

Great Property Inside And Out The Beach Is A Short Walk Or Ride And The Owners Were Amazing
We showed up to a clean house and nice welcome basket. Meg and Jason stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed and were available and responsive by phone or text. The house has an open floor plan and is very comfortable. The back yard is fenced in. We grilled and ate outside several times. We even ate breakfast out there. This was my first time renting this property. I contacted Meg to get some additional information on what to bring. She said all you need to pack is clothes and food and she was right. Everything you need is there. Bikes, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc. etc. The beach is a short walk or bike ride. We went to the beach every day. The beach is clean and the water is nice but a little rocky in places. I would recommend water shoes. There was a heat wave the week we rented so it was pretty hot. I would also recommend a couple of window fans. Every room in the house has a nice ceiling fan.All in all this is a great house located on a nice street. I would definitely consider renting this property again. Thanks Meg & Jason.

Wonderful Home Attentive Owners And Great Vaca Spot
Meg was absolutely wonderful to work with and the home was warm, welcoming and absolutely spotless . We loved the two spacious living areas and the great back yard. The house is stocked with all the beach supplies and equipment you could ever need and seriously reduced our packing needs. We love Hawks Nest Beach and only wish the home was a few blocks closer to the water. A very short bike ride, but a bit of a walk with two little kiddos. We will be back!
